Love without an echo

THE LETTER NEVER SENT

A heart speaking into distance.

Read the complete poem
I wrote your name upon a page, And freed the words kept in a cage. They came like rain after a drought, The feelings I could not speak out. I told the page how much I cared, The hopes I never truly shared. I knew the dream was mine alone, Not something you had ever known. I made no claim upon your heart, No wish to pull your world apart. Love cannot force a heart to move, Or make a silence answer love. So I folded every honest line, And let your road stay free from mine. The letter sleeps within a drawer, A truth that asks for nothing more. Some love is spoken, some stays still, Some cannot change another’s will. Though you may never know it grew, I kept it kind—and let you choose.
