A feeling, examined

THE MEASURE OF LOVE

The many meanings of love.

Read the complete poem
Love is not measured gift by gift, Or by the praise that words can lift. It is the hand that stays with you When days are hard and hopes are few. Love is not noise for all to hear, It is a truth that stays sincere. It speaks through patience, work and care, By sharing every weight we bear. Love does not always win the fight, But keeps the heart from losing light. It may forgive, yet still be wise, And never build its home on lies. Love is not chains around a soul, It lets two separate lives stay whole. It gives both wings, yet roots them deep, And guards the promises they keep. So when the world asks what love means, It is not found in perfect scenes. It lives where two true hearts decide To grow in truth, side by side.
