Two hearts, one horizon

WHEN YOU ARE NEAR

Where two lives lean closer.

Read the complete poem
The road remains the same, The sky does not turn new, Yet everything looks different When I walk beside you. You speak of simple things— Work, weather, an unfinished day, But even your ordinary words Take my tiredness away. When I lose faith in myself, You do not give a speech, You just remind me The next step is in reach. You laugh at my bad jokes, I laugh because you do, Perhaps the joke is still poor, But the moment becomes true, And the whole room feels new. We do not always agree, Sometimes our thoughts collide, Still respect stays between us And keeps anger aside. I do not need heaven, Or every dream to come true, A little peace on earth Feels enough with you. Years may change our faces, Roads may change their name, But if trust remains with us, Love too will remain. The world need not become perfect, Nor every sky be clear— Life simply feels more possible Whenever you are near.
